It’s Ok to be a Quitter

It’s ok to be a quitter! You won’t hear that often in your life, but when it comes to vaping, we won’t just say it’s ok to quit, we will encourage a quitter’s attitude!

Let’s deal with the elephant in the room first: withdraw. Yes, once you decide to quit, this is a reality you’ve got to deal with. Headaches, mood swings, and irritability are all an inevitable part of the body’s response to nicotine withdraw. BUT, consider this, by the time you start feeling the symptoms of withdraw, your body has already begun to heal itself. Within just 20 minutes of your last hit, your heart rate and blood pressure begin to stabilize. By the 24 hour mark, which is when withdraw typically becomes unpleasant, your body’s oxygen levels have normalized and the nicotine breath disappears.

Even as the withdraw symptoms continue, rest assured that more positive changes are happening. After 2 to 3 days you’ll begin to notice that your sense of taste and smell are both improving. By now you are also breathing easier. At the end of this period you should be feeling the withdraw symptoms subsiding. You’ll be back to your new and improved old self in no time!

The biggest health benefits come between 1 and 9 months into your quitting journey. In this time your blood circulation and energy levels are returning to normal. Exercising becomes easier at this point. Congratulations, you’ve been vape free for almost a year.

Now your body gets serious about the healing process. Between 1 and 5 years of being vape free you lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. By your 10th year post vape, your risk of heart disease is the same as a non-vaper!

The hope in providing you this information is to help you educate your children (and maybe yourselves) enough that the idea of vaping just isn’t appealing. If you or your child have already started, maybe this information will give you or them the incentive to quit.

Join us next week and we’ll give you tips on how to quit. When it comes to vaping, we hope you are the most successful quitter ever!
